HISTORICAL BACKGROUND OF DHAMTARI CHRISTIAN HOSPITAL

Mennonite Mission work was established in 1899 in Dhamtari,C.G. Since that time American Mennonite Missionaries established Churches, Educational Institutions and Hospitals. The hard work and dedicated work of the Mennonite Missionaries converted the small dispensary to a hospital.The present has become one of the vital sources of health care delivery to the community. Today the hospital is a 250 bedded multi speciality secondary facility providing specialized services in the field of internal Medicine. Surgery, Pediatric, Gynecology, Orthopedics , ENT, Psychiatry, Dental and community medicine.

The dream and hope of Dr.C.D.Esch to Start a Nursing School became a reality in 1950 with small beginning of few students. Ms.Lena Graber and Ms. Florence Nafziger took the responsibility to start the school. Ms.Grabar was here from 1950-1954 and Ms.Nafziger from 1950-1973 during that time Ms. Blanche E Sell was Nursing Superintendent.She helped in teaching the student also. She was here from 1954-1972. Ms. Elizabeth Erb was Nursing School Director from 1964-1970. Ms.Nafziger also served as a Nursing School Director when other missionaries were on leave. She served here till 1973.The school has churned out close to 1500 nursing Graduates till now. The school was upgraded College of Nursing in 1995.

The institution is committed to the promotion of total health in spirit of Christ. This implies not merely training in the professional skill but also in attitude and character. The student's and faculty of the Dhamtari Christian Hospital have been inspired and guided throug.... these years by the motto :
